Shortly after the release of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, Microsoft is reportedly planning a shift away from its big-bang OS release strategy to a more regular update schedule, similar to Apple's once-a-year updates to OS X and iOS.
ZDNet reported back in August that Microsoft was already working on a follow-up to Windows 8, codenamed "Blue," and hypothesized that it would look more like a Windows service pack than a new OS.
