Mighty Avengers #1 suggested that this new series would be a solid, if not very necessary addition to Marvel's copious lineup of Avengers books. Issue #2 does nothing to change that perception. This is an entertaining read, but it doesn't really add anything significant to the Infinity conflict. Nor can it quite overcome the hurdle of awkward artwork.
Where issue #2 falls a bit short of the first is the lack of team building. The focus is almost entirely on action from start to finish. The group dynamic got off to a solid start last month, but there's not much room to evolve the characters in between the punching and exploding. However, Al Ewing makes strong use of both Infinity's villains and an unexpected new foe to create a sizable challenge for this fledgling team.
