This Infinity tie-in arc is only tangentially connected to Infinity at this point. Any hope of seeing Thanos directly confront the newest member of the once-thriving Nova Corps is pretty much dashed a this point. Thanos is kind of a busy dude right now. But the benefit to this outsider status is that the series isn't being dragged through the same, tired conflicts or forced to abandon its own ongoing storylines. This arc could easily take place without Infinity as a backdrop, and that's usually a good sign.
