The Bridge: Season Finale Review IGN All

Note: Full spoilers for The Bridge: Season 1 finale follow.


With its inaugural season complete, The Bridge now finds itself in pretty much the same place it started: as a show with a tremendous amount of unfulfilled potential. The setting can still provide plenty of rich stories and the cast is top-notch while the writing has been wildly uneven and, as with all shows, everything – good and bad – flows from the writing. But when it’s on, as it usually is during its quieter character scenes, it’s dead-on. Luckily, with a second season on the way, they’ll have another chance to try making all of these elements gel.


The season finale never matched any of The Bridge’s high moments but that’s not much of a surprise, as it served as more of a prelude to next year. Cross and Ruiz will delve into the muddy waters of the show’s corrupt Juarez PD while Wade’s putting off retirement - and speaking of Wade, I’m fine if the show has Ted Levine on horseback from here on out. Seriously, just have him ride it into the office, the man looks magnificent up there.
