One of Greg Pak's great strengths with this series is his ability to tell Superman stories that feel very different from what's come before. Pak doesn't limit himself to any particular genre, either. This current, post-Doomed storyline is as much a horror story as anything else, with Smallville trapped in a bizarre bubble and its residents blissfully ignoring all the strange events around them. Typically, the best Superman conflicts involve foes that can't simply be punched into submission, and Pak has certainly tapped into that quality here.
