Roku has announced plans for an ultra HD version of Roku TV.
Roku’s first partner in the 4K space will be the Chinese company TCL, who, as a company, has been manufacturing CRT, plasma, and LCD televisions for over 30 years.
Options for ultra HD streaming are limited at present and whilst further details are scarce, we do know Netflix is on board with the move to deliver 4K instant video to Roku TVs.
As well as committing to 4K, the company also aims to expand the Roku TV platform with two new hardware partners. Best Buy’s Insignia brand will begin offering Roku TV on certain models from spring onwards. The second partner, Haier, also plans to include Roku TV on select smart TVs, although they won't be out until Q3 of 2015.
