Uncanny X-Men #30 Review IGN All

STK660514 With each new chapter of "The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier," I find myself a little more surprised and baffled that the arc isn't finished yet. The battle for the all-powerful new mutant Matthew Malloy is dragging on much longer than necessary, and it still doesn't wrap up in issue #30. But while this arc is definitely wearing out its welcome, issue #30 definitely has some strong moments.


The story has taken an interesting turn with Eva Bell's decision to abuse her powers and travel back in time to warn Xavier of the terrible things unfolding in his future. For one thing, this allows Bendis to write Xavier for the first significant length of time since starting his X-Men run. For another, it dredges up all sorts of interesting questions and conundrums. Can Xavier allow himself to be exposed to this hellish future that just dropped in on him? Can he interfere? Moreover, should he? For a story that originally hinged on the X-Men dealing with Xavier's death, this is a pretty fitting twist.
