Arrow's Season Is Going To End With a Bang IGN All

Arrow was the highest rated premiere on The CW since The Vampire Diaries, and its popularity has continued over the course of the first season, leading to an early renewal for Season 2. Producer Marc Guggenheim was joined by cast members Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), Willa Holland (Thea Queen), Colin Donnell (Tommy Merlyn), and Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance) at WonderCon today to tease what's ahead as the season finale inches closer.

Though the finale isn't written yet, Guggenheim promises it's going to deliver. The Undertaking is where they're headed, and they've been saving resources for these last few episodes. “We've been basically setting aside money for the last several episodes to put towards the last two episodes of the season.” All the things they've been hinting at in terms of what the Undertaking is and all the stuff happening on the island will come to a head, and they've earmarked the money to do it justice.

Vikings: "Raid" Review IGN All

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...

Vikings might seem like a quaint, solemn series compared to tonight's genre TV lineup featuring the Season 3 premiere of Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead's Season 3 finale, but, in the very least, this series upped its game a little bit and gave us its best episode so far. In keeping with the blueprint that this show seems to favor, "Raid" was very front loaded with action, with the rest of the episode spent dealing with the consequences of the violence at the beginning. With "Raid," Ragnar officially became an outlaw/outcast after the Earl and his men attacked him at home, seriously wounding him in the process.

The Walking Dead Finale: What Did You Think? IGN All

Hey, there's no review in this review!

Unlike most of the episodes this season, AMC did not send The Walking Dead season finale out early to press. That being the case, with the episode having just ended as I post this, I'm currently writing my review and it will be up later tonight at this same url.

In the meantime, we figured you'd be itching to discuss what occurred as Rick and the Governor's conflict came to a head, so let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Game of Thrones: Season 3 Premiere Review IGN All

Warning: Full spoilers for the Game of Thrones: Season 3 premiere follow...

The time has come! HBO's Game of Thrones is back in our lives, and it's brought dragons, giants and menacingly-sized green scorpion creatures with it! When we pick up things in the Season 3 premiere, "Valar Dohaeris" (a Valyrian phrase that's actually a wee bit ahead of the TV series), the "War if the Five Kings," which took up the bulk of Season 2, is on a bit of a break.

Stannis' forces were crushed in the Battle of Blackwater, Theon's whereabouts are unknown (only the smoldering Winterfell graphic in the opening credits remains) and douchebag Joffrey's hind quarters still sit firmly on the Iron Throne. There is another "king" who has plans for Westeros who we meet in the first ten minutes, although he seems way far off from the thick of all the warring down in the Riverlands. Yes, we start off the episode spending some quality time Beyond The Wall, with Jon Snow getting hit with rocks, laughed at by Ygritte, and intimidated by an honest-to-goodness giant. Plus, he mistakes a big red-bearded fellow named Tormund for Mance Rayder, leading to further chuckling at his expense. The real Rayder, played by CiarĂ¡n Hinds, wants to know why Jon's turned his cloak on his fellow crows and Jon, thinking quickly, comes up with decent enough reason.

Vikings: Learn What's Next IGN All

A loud and excited crowd gathered in the early hours of WonderCon to listen to the cast of History's Vikings dish the goods on the new hit series. As the cast took the stage, they were met with thunderous applause from the pack room. Audience members also took to calling out the names of the shows characters as each actor was introduced.

"We knew the subject matter; it was the right subject matter for us," Dirk Hoogstran said of the cable channel's decision to tackle Vikings as its first scripted show. Apparently, every time the channel would air a special or documentary on Vikings, there would be a significant ratings spike. This made the decision to greenlight the series an easy one. Hoogstra also told the audience that selecting the cast was an easy process, since most of the actors seemed to be natural fits for their respective roles.

Hemlock Grove brings horror to WonderCon IGN All

The cast and producers of Netflix's Hemlock Grove were on hand at WonderCon to give an excited crowd the inside scoop on the upcoming horror-thriller and things got bloody and fun by the panel's end. Things got started with a discussion about why it took producer Eli Roth so long to jump into the world of television.

"I can't just kill everybody every week," executive producer Eli Roth said. He stressed that networks had been asking for him to create a television series. "As the medium evolved, shows like Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Waling Dead changed the rules and suddenly horror became a real possibility."

"We've been talking about this as a TV series since grad school and he was working on the first draft," executive producer said of Brain McGreevy's novel. "The problem was the expansion of the story, so there'll be lots of surprises for fans of the novel. One really, really big surprise."

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Tops Box Office IGN All

The Joes were back in full force at the weekend box office, with G.I. Joe: Retaliation debuting with an estimated $132 million worldwide. Domestically, it finished in first place with $41.2 million, the second largest March opening on record. The sequel/reboot has made a total of $51.7 million at home including Thursday screenings.

Proving it's no Twilight, the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host bowed with a mediocre sixth place opening of $11 million. Meanwhile, Tyler Perry's Temptation finished strongly in third place.

WonderCon: First Under the Dome Footage Screened IGN All

At WonderCon Saturday, the first footage was shown from Under the Dome, CBS’s upcoming new series based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. The show is only a month into production so they had no final footage ready, but they did show a reel that incorporated interviews with King and showrunner Brian K. Vaughan (repurposed from a video shown to press in January ) with dailies from production - so it's possible these may not be the final takes used, in some cases.

Even in such an early form, the footage looked very cool – showing immediate effects of what happens when an invisible dome suddenly covers an entire town, including a girl collapsing to the ground, a truck smashing into seemingly nothing and, most grisly of all, a bloody, severed arm falling to the ground in front of people’s eyes – just one result of a plane flying into the dome. Natalie Martinez’s Linda is seen looking in confusion at the press gathered on the other side of the dome, who she can’t hear.

Teen Titans Go! Will Get Weird IGN All

The Teen Titans are popular, iconic characters and there's been a lot of buzz about how the new series Teen Titans Go! will handle them. Producers/writers Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath were joined by voice talent Greg Cipes and Khary Payton at WonderCon to share the debut episode and to discuss the different, funnier direction.

It's no secret fans are skeptical about the strictly comedic take on the super team, but the overall reaction to the episode seemed positive. Laughter drowned out the punchlines at some points. The premiere episode (split into two eleven minute stories as they all will be) showed just how silly things are going get. It's reminiscent of the Star Wars: Detours clips.

Falling Skies: The Mega Mechs Are Coming! IGN All

Falling Skies is heading into Season 3, and there are plenty of new developments to keep fans guessing and engaged. The last season ended with a couple of big cliffhangers: there are new aliens in town who may or not be enemies and Karen implanted Hal Mason with some sort of skitter bug.

Stars Drew Roy, Sarah Carter, and Seychelle Gabriel as well as executive producer Remi Aubuchon came to WonderCon to discuss what's ahead now since the landscape has changed. A clip revealed the skitters possess Mega Mechs; they've just been saving them for the serious attacks. The conventional, older Mechs aren't cutting it anymore. Aubuchon said, “They've become so desperate they've brought out the Mega Mechs which are not to be messed with.”

Axe Cop Animated Series Looks Perfectly Axe Cop IGN All

On July 27th, FOX is launching their new Saturday night Animation Domination High Definition block from 11pm-12:30am, and at WonderCon today a panel was held for ADHD. The majority of the time was spent discussing the first original series for ADHD, Axe Cop, based on the comic book of the same name.

For those who don’t know, Axe Cop was created by Ethan Nicolle, based directly on stories told to him by his then 5 year old brother, Malachai – and is a wonderfully funny creation thanks to its random, stream of consciousness style that comes straight from the mind of a child.

A trailer was shown that indicated the series will indeed match the comic. Malachai could be heard narrating, and at one point we saw an animated Hitler declare, “You’re going to build me an evil island of zombies on Zombie island… in space!” (as we see just that occurring, with each element revealed as Hitler says it, ending with a floating island in space). Another highlight was a woman asking Axe Cop (voiced by Nick Offerman) for help her and him answering, “Only if you tell me how you’d feel I’d look with a mohawk and a handlebar mustache.” And then there’s the Queen of London being menaced by Dr. Doodoo, with Doodoo later declaring, “Today I will make the great Axe Cop poop himself… to death!”

WonderCon: The Conjuring Scares With New Footage IGN All

Director James Wan (Insidious, Saw) was at WonderCon on Saturday to debut new footage from his upcoming horror film The Conjuring.

The fact-based horror film recalls the most terrifying case legendary husband and wife paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) ever encountered. Set in 1971, the film involves a family (led by Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston) whose farmhouse is haunted by a witch's spirit. This is a forerunner to The Amityville Horror -- the case that made the Warrens famous -- and it touches upon the religious conflict between God and demons.

The first sequence screened showed Lili and her daughter playing a game of blindfolded hide-and-seek that culminates with Lili's first realization that something just ain't right in her home.As the sequence progressed, she hears a strange clapping sound that she believes is from her children playing past their bedtime, but obviously that's not it. Her investigation into the strange sounds leads her to make a very unwise trip to her cellar, a decision that got the crowd riled up and shouting at the screen for her to not go down there. Fun stuff.

WonderCon: Del Toro's Pacific Rim Rocks IGN All

Director Guillermo del Toro and Legendary Pictures presented fans with an exclusive look at their giant robots vs. giant monsters epic Pacific Rim at Saturday's WonderCon in Anaheim, California.

What exactly is Pacific Rim about? Here's the official synopsis to shed some light: "When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse."

Doctor Who: "The Bells of Saint John" Review IGN All

Full Episode Spoilers Ahead...

Like all the great inventions – the wheel, electricity, cat memes – it's now hard to imagine living in a world without the internet.

Let's put it this way: if we had to choose between an apocalypse brought about by zombies or wi-fi, we know which we'd have a better shot of surviving (ready availability of baseball bats willing).

So while The Bells of St John didn't quite deliver on the full-scale meltdown of an internetalypse, it had more than enough energy, character and spectacle to prove a rollocking kickstart to the concluding part of Season 7.

Plot-wise, we picked up where we left off at the end of last year's Christmas special 'The Snowmen'. Clara had been killed. Again. But with her dying words she managed one last tug on the Doctor's brain-yarn (innuendo ahoy), catalysing a spiralling series of questions, and a brand new mission - who, what and how is Clara Oswald?!

Hannibal: Series Premiere Review IGN All

Advance Review: On the surface, Hannibal has so much going against it. A prequel TV series about Hannibal Lecter has to overcome a lot of preconceptions, starting with the intimidating shadow of anyone daring to stop into the shoes of Anthony Hopkins, who gave such an iconic (and Academy Award winning) performance in the role. Then you have the fact that some would say the character was arguably diminished by perhaps less than stellar cinematic follow-ups to the classic The Silence of the Lambs, including Hannibal Rising – which was itself a prequel! Oh, and by focusing on the relationship between Lecter and Will Graham, Hannibal invites the, “This story again?” cries, given the Lecter/Graham dynamic was explored in two previous films; Manhunter (with Brian Cox and William Petersen) and Red Dragon (with Hopkins and Edward Norton).

New Details on Three PlayStation 3 RPGs IGN PS3

Today, NIS was kind enough to swing by IGN’s office to show us its upcoming slate of PlayStation 3-exclusive JRPGs set for release both in North America and Europe in 2013. Time and Eternity, The Guided Fate Paradox and Disgaea Dimensions 2 were all shown-off on a debug PS3; one game was already translated, the other two were still in Japanese, and all three will come out at various times throughout the year. So let’s jump in and see what each one was all about.

The game I was most impressed by was the first one I was shown: Time and Eternity. Known as Toki to Towa in Japan, Time and Eternity was developed not by an internal NIS development team, but by ImageEpoch – the studio behind the Luminous Arc and Fate/Extra franchises – and it totes a beautiful art style. All of Time and Eternity’s characters and enemies are hand-drawn, allowing them to pop against the game’s more static and standard 3D environments. The version of the game I saw is already translated into English, though voice acting will be available in both English and Japanese.

Darkstalkers Resurrection Review IGN All

Capcom really ought to take notice. I mean, really: no one should outclass it on its home turf. But then in come the fine folks at Iron Galaxy to handle the porting duties for Capcom's dusty old classics fighters, and they end up delivering great new additions that beat Capcom at its own game – literally. Darkstalkers Resurrection isn't just a generously featured port of two fan-favorite fighters in one, it's a shining example of how social features should work.

If you're old and crusty, you may have played Night Warriors or Darkstalkers 3 at your friendly neighborhood arcade in the late 90s. They marked a much-needed departure from the Street Fighter series, trading out well-worn martial arts tropes for vampires, sasquatches, and mermen. It played just as differently as it looked. Though it might seem tame compared to something like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, features like air blocking, EX specials, and unblockable attacks had either just started emerging, or were being introduced by Darkstalkers for the first time. Fifteen years on, such moves have become fighting-game staples. But even though their best tricks are now old news, both games in Darkstalkers Resurrection remain enjoyable, and feel almost as unique now as they did then.

Incredipede Review IGN All

During the time I’ve spent with Incredipede, it hasn't been uncommon for someone to walk by my desk, peek at the screen, and say, “Oh god, kill it!” Where the spectators see a god-forsaken creature that goes against everything nature intended, I see a beautifully crafted tool that, used wisely, is perfect for taking on the task at hand. And when that task is complete, I’ll re-engineer it time and again until I get the perfect solution to each and every stage in this wonderfully inventive puzzler.

Don’t worry about the narrative of Incredipede -- it’s completely forgettable. Instead, just enjoy the great puzzles. On Normal difficulty, the campaign acts as an especially good tool to teach us about the types of creatures you can build in Incredipede. Each level comes with a pre-made monster perfect for doing what’s needed. The trick – and enjoyment – comes from the fact that each level's creature is unique, looks bizarre, and requires different skill to control. Limbs with muscles attached enable you to activate them with a few keystrokes, and levels often require you to think about powering multiple limbs at once. We do this all the time with our own bodies, but when you’re doing it for a truly weird-looking creature that you barely understand, it feels a bit like patting your head and rubbing your stomach. It’s easy to feel immensely frustrated, but there’s also an intense satisfaction that comes from overcoming adversity and striding – or just barely bumbling – your way to victory.

DC Comics All-Access Panel Recap IGN All

The first DC Comics panel of WonderCon 2013 kicked off in Room 300AB, with the introduction of panelists Ann Nocenti, Scott Snyder, James Robinson, Matt Kindt, Jim Chadwick, and Bryan Q. Miller.

The discussion started with a Batman: Zero Year slide – which will have its own panel later today. Snyder hit many of the same notes that he talked about in our interview a few weeks back, saying, “I honestly think, in my heart of hearts, that it’s the best thing that we’ve done. It really is nothing, nothing, nothing like Year One; I think you’ll open the first page and see that you’ve never seen the origin done like this before.”

Unreal Engine 4, Frostbite 3 Will Not Support Wii U IGN All

When someone asks if Unreal Engine 4 will work on Wii U, Epic co-founder Mark Rein bursts out laughing. "No," he says.

Following an Unreal Engine presentation at 2013's Game Developer Conference, Rein clarifies his response to IGN, still laughing, "I just laugh at the question...Unreal Engine 4, we're not PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or Wii U. It's next-gen technology. That's what we're aiming for."

So while UE4 proper won't make its way onto Wii U, Rein explains that developers are capable of porting software powered by the engine. "The truth is, if a developer wanted to take an Unreal Engine game and put it on Wii U, they could," Rein continues. "Unreal Engine 3 is kicking ass on Wii U. The best games on Wii U are made on our technology. What more do you want from us?"
