Kung Lao, a classic Mortal Kombat character, has been revealed as part of Mortal Kombat X’s roster, according Finnish magazine Pelaaja.

Test Your Might forum user AeroGrunt provided a translation in a post that includes images of a much older looking Kung Lao, and details about his various gameplay styles—Tempest, Buzz Saw and Hat Trick. Players can use Kung Lao’s hat as a shield spinning around him or throw it and call it back anytime the player wants.

Online features will play a larger role in Mortal Kombat X. Players will be able to choose from five factions--Lin Kuei, White Lotus, Brotherhood of Shadows, Special Force and Black Dragon--and earn battle points for the chosen faction. This will determine how a player's in-game single player or multiplayer menus will look, among other things.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 Review IGN All

I wasn't sure how to feel about this comic when it was originally announced. It's been years since Marvel has published a true, present-day S.H.I.E.L.D. comic. The closest analogue we've seen in recent years has been Secret Avengers. Aside from the sheer novelty of having a S.H.I.E.L.D.-branded comic on the stands again, the idea of Mark Waid writing a book that focuses on standalone stories and an eclectic cast of guest stars was certainly appealing. On the other hand, I'm not the biggest fan of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. Sure, the show has improved in 2014, but I was left to wonder if characters like Melinda May or Fitz and Simmons really deserved to headline their own book.

New concept art from Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron has surfaced online which gives fans their best look yet at Paul Bettany's Vision, as well as revealing how the character's origin has been tweaked from the comics.

Thanos Is Getting the Giant Funko Figure Treatment IGN All

After the success of their original Guardians of the Galaxy POP! Vinyls run, Funko has revealed a new set made up of the film's villains expected to launch in March 2015.

The set - made up of five characters - includes Yondu, Nebula, the Collector, Ronan, and a "super-sized" 6" figure of Thanos.

The figures will be available at mass retail stores for $10 USD for the standard-sized figures and $15 for the 6" Thanos. Pre-orders for these vinyls are currently available.

And 2014's Highest-Grossing Actor Is... IGN All

Thanks to big blockbusters like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jennifer Lawrence is now Hollywood's highest-grossing actor.

The 24-year-old Oscar-winner starred as Mystique in the latest X-Men installment as well as Katniss Everdeen in Mockingjay, bringing in a total of $1.4 billion dollars worldwide this past year. Forbes compiled the figures using Box Office Mojo's worldwide lifetime grosses for each film.

Chris Pratt came in second with $1.2 billion in global grosses (thanks to mega-hits Guardians of the Galaxy and The LEGO Movie), followed by Scarlett Johansson with $1.18 billion and Mark Wahlberg with $1 billion. The full list can be found here.

New App Brings 360-Degree Video to Samsung Gear VR IGN All

The recent addition of an app called Milk VR has brought a library of 360-degree videos to Samsung's Gear VR headset.

Available to both stream and download, the library features a variety of videos shot in 360 degrees, allowing users of virtual reality headsets to look around themselves and see all angles of the shot around them. Videos in the library range from walking the beaches of Hawaii to exploring China.

Videos within the app can be selected by using the touch pad on the side of the Gear VR headset to scroll through the various titles. Categories in the app include Trending, Music, Action, Sports, and VR Life.

Accessing the app's films requires the use of a Gear VR headset and a Galaxy Note 4 smartphone. To see its video library, visit the app's official website.

Adam Sandler Tops 'Most Overpaid Actor' List... Again IGN All

Comedy actor Adam Sandler has been named the most overpaid actor for the second year in a row.

Forbes compiled its list by looking at the last three major movie releases of Hollywood stars, what they were paid for their roles, and what those movies earned - in other words, a calculation on the return on investment for each actor. Spartan is Microsoft's New Windows 10 Web Browser IGN All

Spartan, the codename for what some thought was Internet Explorer 12, is actually a new Micrososft web browser altogether, which will ship with the upcoming Windows 10.

This information was revealed by Microsoft analyst Mary Jo Foley, reports Ars Technica. According to Foley's sources, Spartan is codename for a "new, light-weight browser" that will ship with Windows 10 alongside a backwards-compatible version of Internet Explorer 11.

Galavant: Series Premiere Review IGN All

The fact that a show like Galavant, debuting this coming Sunday, is airing on ABC is a modern day marvel. The medieval series is billed as a musical comedy extravaganza, and it delivers exactly that and does so with panache. Part Robin Hood: Men in Tights and part The Princess Bride, Galavant follows the story of a hero named Galavant (Rogue's Joshua Sasse) as he tries to get his true love Madalena (Mallory Jansen) back from King Richard (Psych's Timothy Omundson). Tried and true fairy tale material, right? While the musical and slightly silly approach would be enough to alter the standard "hero goes after the girl" story, Galavant goes out of the way to change it up with small but effective twists.

Activison Abandons True Crime Trademark IGN All

Following a trademark expiration, it looks as though True Crime won’t be getting a sequel, or at least not one under the Activision banner.

The trademark for True Crime (US serial number 78067332) was originally filed on Jun. 05, 2001. However, as of Friday, December 19, 2014, a U.S. federal trademark for the name ‘True Crime’ by Activision Publishing, Inc was abandoned.

What’s not clear at the moment is whether Activision plans to utilise the trademark in the future. As of writing, the US Patent and Trademark Office status currently reads: “Abandoned because the applicant failed to respond or filed a late response to an Office action.”

iTunes Terms Updated in EU, Allows a 14-day Return Window IGN All

Apple has updated its iTunes Terms of Service (ToS) to include a 14-day return policy for members of the EU.

The new terms allows consumers 14-days to request a refund, albeit with one caveat. Should the user decide to deliberately download the purchased media, they forfeit the right to cancel the order. In short, if you buy something in error, you can get a refund. But if you buy something, then download it, you can’t.

“Right of cancellation: If you choose to cancel your order, you may do so within 14 days from when you received your receipt without giving any reason, except iTunes Gifts which cannot be refunded once you have redeemed the code,” reads the iTunes ToS.

Four New Costume Packs Available for Hyrule Warriors IGN All

Costumes from several The Legend of Zelda games are now available to purchase for key characters in Hyrule Warriors.

Previously locked away as retailer-specific pre-order exclusives, these four separate costume packs can each be purchased for $1 USD through the Wii U's eShop.

The first three packs include costumes for both Link and Zelda inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In 2008, AQ Interactive announced the cancellation of Cry On, an RPG in development from Hironobu Sakaguchi's studio Mistwalker. Now, almost exactly six years later, the Final Fantasy creator released a previously unseen trailer.

Sakaguchi published the trailer on his YouTube account, and it's fairly long, almost totaling four minutes. It shows a female character sprinting through overgrown ruins with a small, golem-like ally in tow as they escape from a dark substance. It also showcases music from Nobuo Uematsu, the composer of Final Fantasy fame, who was signed on to compile Cry On's score.

Final Fantasy Type-0 's Influences, Emotions, and Maturity IGN All

Final Fantasy Type-0 has been touted as the first truly “mature” game in the beloved RPG series, but what does that mean? With the upcoming HD remaster of the 2011 PSP game that never got released outside of Japan, we got a chance to get some answers from the game’s director Hajime Tabata, who has also recently took over as director of Final Fantasy XV.

On the topic of Type-0’s maturity, Tabata explained, “On the surface, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD seems more violent and graphic compared to other titles in the franchise. This was a deliberate choice, in line with the real time action battle game mechanics and, indeed, is one of the reasons why the game is mature. That being said, in developing the game, we wanted to not only capture this visually, but more importantly, substantively.”

Dark Souls 2 Director Reveals More on Scholar of the First Sin IGN PS3

Without adding new enemies or maps, FromSoftware’s upcoming Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will dish out greater challenges for veterans and offer a twist on the original story with the new non-playable character, director Yui Tanimura tells IGN.

“In terms of new content, there are no additional maps, no. But the story will be new and expanded and fresh, even for the players who have played through seven or eight times,” Tanimura says. “But there are some new ways through the maps.”

The updated version won’t feature new enemies—except for a new type of Dark Phantom they couldn’t divulge any information on—but enemy placement and how they interact with player is scrambled.
