NDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh calls Sony’s PlayStation Home a commercial success in a goodbye letter to the virtual world.

In a post on GamesIndustry.biz, O’Luanaigh says that UK developer nDream and other studios generated up to seven-figure revenues for years on Home, refuting claims that Home is a “commercial failure”.

O'Luanaigh lobbied Sony to let nDreams create unique virtual content for PlayStation Home before it went live in December 2008. NDreams launched Xi, an alternate reality game that combined “Home spaces, games, websites and live events around the world”. The studio was a driving force behind the project's success.

PAX Aus 2014 Maps and Exhibitor Listings Revealed IGN All

PAX Aus 2014 maps and exhibitor listings are now available for you to pour over so you can plan your days ahead of the gaming culture event next month.

The new location at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre sees the size of most areas double and the amount of theatre spaces triple over last year’s venue.

Big name exhibitors in the expo hall include Bethesda, Microsoft, Nintendo, Wargaming, Ubisoft, 2K, Alienware, Razer, Oculus VR, Cards Against Humanity, Riot Games and more. There is also a big section for the Indie Pavilion, where the Indie Showcase winners will be on display.

Person of Interest: "Nautilus" Review IGN All

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...

"You're reaching out for meaning, but the wrong thing is reaching back."

What initially appeared to be a "case of the week" installment (albeit a very fun, intriguing one that aimed to get Finch back on his feet) took a very cool and powerful turn in the middle when our heroes discovered that Samaritan itself was behind the super-genius city-wide scavenger hunt that young, lost Claire - a number - was participating in.

I usually don't expect all that much from episodes this early in the season so "Nautilus" was a welcome surprise from a mythology standpoint. And all the parts really flowed together well and turned this chapter into both a Finch redemption episode and a sort of "Claire turns to the dark side" episode. All capped off with some great Portishead music there at the end when Claire flipped the final switch and saw her hopes for a more meaningful existence, momentarily, go up in smoke.

Sons of Anarchy: "Poor Little Lambs" Review IGN All

Warning: Full spoilers for Sons of Anarchy follow.

Jax and SAMCRO had their hands full in this week's Sons of Anarchy between dealing with drug dealers with itchy trigger fingers and getting detoured trying to clean up a mess they created when they killed some people by mistake in the season premiere. But it was the escalation of the gang war in the final moments of the episode that will likely have the most ramifications.

The show is now four episodes into the final season and there hasn’t been a hint yet that Jax suspects anything other than what Gemma told him about Tara’s death. Although I appreciate a slow build of tension, the detour in this week’s episode as they tried to get a deal of August's back on track was the first that felt like the show was treading water in order to delay the revelation about Tara. Sure, Jax didn’t want August to be overly suspicious, but SAMCRO went to a lot of trouble – digging up bodies, risking a gunfight – to avoid something that was only a possibility. Maybe if the storyline with August was tied closer to Jax finding out the truth about Tara it wouldn't have felt as much like a stalling tactic.

Agents of SHIELD: "Heavy Is the Head" Review IGN All

The second episode of SHIELD: Season 2 continued to show off an improved series, boasting better pacing and a stronger overall tone.

Right from the start, it was notable how this episode picked up immediately where last week left off, with May finding Hunter and chasing down Absorbing Man – with a few exceptions, last season almost never had these type of immediate continuations. Most Marvel fans are all in on serialization and no, every episode doesn’t need to bleed into the next, but there’s also no reason to shy away from doing it when it makes sense.

Last week, I noted there wasn’t much to really distinguish new recruits Hunter and Mac, but this episode quickly remedied that, giving both of them plenty of screen time and distinctive characterizations. Hunter especially was given some good material, as we learned of his military-turned-mercenary background. He was shown to be both very much about making money yet also a loyal friend and colleague and his determination that Izzy get a proper burial was a sweet touch. (For now, it seems any theories some of us had on Izzy/Lucy Lawless continuing on aren’t happening, as she was in fact buried).

David Fincher to Direct Every Episode of HBO's Utopia IGN All

Director David Fincher just finished work on the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel Gone Girl, and is working with the writer again on HBO's adaptation of the UK series Utopia (nope, no connection to the FOX reality show - which is why we're guessing it'll get a new title in the US). And, according to a recent interview, he's directing the entire series.

American Horror Story Actress Joins the Maze Runner Sequel IGN All

American Horror Story and Insurgent actress Rosa Salazar has joined the cast of Maze Runner: Scorch Trials.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Salazar will take on the role of Brenda, a character that ultimately teams up with Thomas (played by Dylan O' Brien) while on the run in a set of underground tunnels.

Following the announcement of the Maze Runner sequel, Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen was cast as the film's villain. Maze Runner director Wes Ball, along with the producers, are set to return for the sequel.

Rush Hour TV Show in Development IGN All

A TV series based on the Rush Hour films is currently in development at Warner Bros. Television.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the films' original director Brett Ratner has signed on as the show's executive producer, along with Rush Hour producer Arthur M. Sarkissian and Jeff Ingold (Like Father). Scrubs and Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence will pen the series alongside Blake McCormick (Cougar Town).

The series is still early on in development, as a network deal has yet to be reached. Jackie Chan recently downplayed talks of Rush Hour 4, saying he must see a good script before he considers making the film.

FX has renewed both Married and You’re the Worst for Season 2. Following each series’ 10 episode first seasons, the second season orders are both upped to 13 episodes.

Married: Season Finale Review

Married follows the life of a married couple, Russ and Lina, played by Nat Faxon and Judy Greer. The series averaged 1.96 million viewers on a weekly basis and 1.3 million in adults 18-49.

While Married will be continuing its run on FX, You’re the Worst, executive produced by Stephen Falk will be moving to a new home on FXX. The comedy about modern love, life and the faltering success of the two follows Jimmy (Chris Greer) and Gretchen (Aya Cash). It has averaged 1.56 million total viewers and 1.09 in adults 18-49. Both series were among the top ten ranked comedy series for 2014 on basic cable in the adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 demographics.

Yvette Nicole Brown Leaving Community IGN All

Community may be returning for a miraculous sixth season over at Yahoo Screen, but the news just came in that it will be without one of the study group originals.

TVGuide.com reports that Yvette Nicole Brown, who's played Shirley Bennett on all five seasons so far, will not be coming back for Season 6. She has asked to be released from her current contract for personal family reasons and producers Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna have chosen to honor that request.

The decision was made so that Brown can care for her ill father. "My dad needs daily care and he needs me," Brown informed TVGuide. "The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn't do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad."

Sure, the scenario could lend itself to another lengthy "borrow vs. steal" debate, but why do that to ourselves? The case, and the giant spiked buzzing dildo, are now back in Rollins' possession.

Run Sackboy! Run! Has Appeared on the New Zealand App Store IGN All

Free endless runner Run Sackboy! Run! is currently available for download in the New Zealand App Store.

The release date for the game, which will be available for both PS Vita and mobile platforms, was simply "in October," but it seems that a more precise date would be October 1. Interestingly, the listing on the New Zealand app store shows the game has been available there since September 26.

The big draw for the game will be unlockables for the upcoming LittleBigPlanet 3. Completing certain sticker collections in the mobile game will unlock costumes in the main game, which is coming to PS3 on November 18.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments Review IGN All

As far as games go, famed detective Sherlock Holmes has never looked or played better than he does in Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments. The latest in developer Frogwares’ adventure series uses Unreal Engine 3 for a much-needed graphics upgrade. The more disappointing news is that Holmes’ final deductions are based largely on a web of circumstantial evidence.

Crimes and Punishments takes place over the course of six perplexing, well-written cases that give Holmes ample opportunities to do what Holmes does best: Snoop around crime scenes for clues, interrogate suspects, and talk down to just about everyone he meets. Murder is afoot in each of the cases, but that doesn’t stop them from being diverse; from a gruesome death by whaling harpoon to an Egyptian-style ritual killing, the plots had me riveted. And like a good winding mystery, the person who did it is rarely the one you suspect initially.

Daniel Craig is currently in Morocco on a pre-filming visit for James Bond 24. A series of photos of Craig there have been posted to social media, which shows the Bond star alongside British actor Mark Strong (Green Lantern, Kick-Ass, Sherlock Holmes). Does this mean Strong is in Bond 24?

Dominic Cooper Officially Joins Marvel's Agent Carter IGN All

While it's been long rumored, Marvel confirmed today that Dominic Cooper will return to the role of Howard Stark on Agent Carter next year.

Cooper (Need for Speed, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) first portrayed the elder Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger, starring alongside Hayley Atwell. Now the two actors will reprise their roles for Marvel's Agent Carter on ABC.

Atwell indicated that Cooper would be part of Marvel's Agent Carter earlier this year. Carter will be going on secret missions for Stark while also balancing her administrative job at the Strategic Scientific Reserve.

Tetris Movie Adaptation Announced IGN All

Threshold Entertainment and The Tetris Company have announced plans to develop a feature film inspired by iconic puzzle game Tetris.

The film will be a "science-fiction epic" produced by Threshold chairman Larry Kasanoff and executive produced by The Tetris Company with Threshold's Jimmy Ienner.

"Everyone knows that Tetris is one of the best known, most beloved brands in the world," says Kasanoff. "What everyone doesn't know yet is this epic sci­‐fi story that we’re going to tell. That's what's really exciting."

Threshold previously worked on movie adaptations of fighting game Mortal Kombat.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Review IGN PS3

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is that one classmate of yours that always looks and sounds their incomparable best. They never have a hair out of place, they never put their foot in their mouth, they just look and sound infuriatingly good at all times. Ultimax dazzles with such unrelenting style that one might naturally assume that it lacks substance, and yet it’s a far deeper brawler than its predecessor thanks to all-new characters, shadow versions of existing ones, and a laundry list of smart system tweaks that spice up the already excellent gameplay significantly.

Just like 2012’s original Persona 4 Arena, Ultimax puts on a great show regardless of how good you are at fighting games, especially if you’re a fan of the wonderful JRPG series it’s based off of. Every part of the experience, starting from the opening cinematic, feels like it’s actually from Persona 4. That game’s exemplary tunes are put to good use in Ultimax, lending it a driving, toe-tapping energy both in and out of combat.

Crouching Tiger 2 Debuting on Netflix, IMAX IGN All

Netflix has announced that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend will be its first of several original movies.

The sequel to the Academy Award-winning 2000 film will release simultaneously in select global IMAX theaters and on the streaming service on August 28, 2015.

Legendary martial arts veterans Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen star in the film. Renowned martial arts choreographer and director, Yuen Wo-Ping, is directing the Weinstein Company production. Yeoh reprises her role as Yu Shu-Lien from the original film.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend shares the original’s Wuxia themes while telling its own story of “lost love, young love, a legendary sword and one last opportunity at redemption.”

Kotobukiya Reveals Deadly New Carnage Statue IGN All

Things are looking up for Carnage these days. The popular Spider-Man villain will be playing a major role in Marvel's upcoming mini-series Avengers & X-Men: AXIS and is apparently making his movie debut in 2017's Venom Carnage. And next year, he'll be getting a swanky new status courtesy of Kotobukiya.

Kotobukiya's Carnage Fine Art statue is the third in a series of Spider-Man statues that has also featured Spider-Man himself and Venom. Like the previous two pieces, this polystone statue is sculpted by Erick Sosa and inspired by Carnage's classic 1990's look. The piece is designed at 1:6 scale and measures about 9-inches tall. The statue will include interchangeable arm pieces to simulate Carnage's symbiote powers.

13 Horror Prequels IGN All

One of the scariest things about the best horror films are their lack of explanation. Why is Michael Meyers out to kill babysitters? Why does Pazuzu choose Regan? Why does Rosemary get stuck with the spawn of Satan? The randomness of it all is part of what makes the terror so penetrating.

And yet, horror movies often become franchises which then require a sprawling mythology. Inevitably some of the best horror movies wind up with prequels that introduce previously unknown factors in the mythology. Sometimes it’s a surprisingly chilling addition… and sometimes it’s utterly pointless.

Ubisoft Just Soft-launched A New Assassin's Creed Game IGN All

Out today in Australia and New Zeland, TouchGameplay reports that Assassin's Creed: Identity is a free downloable game for iOS, due for a full release in 2015. The game itself allows players to pick their own assassin, out of a choice of four, and take to the streets of what appears to be Italy.

Of the four classes, there's the big man, The Berserker, The Shadowblade has the ability to throw knives and drop smoke bombs, The Trickster utilises disguises and confusion, while The Thief can blind and pickpocket.

There's the usual Assassin's Creed parkour elements here, too, all achieved through the touchscreen; tap the screen to start a run, tap on a nearby edge vault upwards, and so on.
